Stop Hating On Yourself

shutterstock_126134336 (1)Why are you so incredibly critical of yourself?

As a makeup artist that has literally touched thousands of faces, I’ve become more and more amazed over the years how many women seem to truly hate something about themselves.

I’m certainly not exempt from this. It’s something I have to work at every day, but I can’t tell you how many people I’ve worked on that have had nothing but negative things to say about their face, their skin, how they look in pictures, their weight, even their color of eyes.

Where do we draw the line on this madness?

Every woman I’ve touched is beautiful. Few of them seem to feel as beautiful as they truly are.

It reminds me of those Dove commercials that came out a while back:

I guarantee you that the way you think you look is nothing like what people see you as. Self-confidence, to me, is one of the most amazing things that a woman can possess. Few things are sexier than a confident woman.

Did you know that when you smile, you look more attractive? So smile a lot. Laugh a lot. Be silly.

Don’t take life so hard.

And don’t take yourself so seriously and constantly beat yourself up over things you can’t control.

Everyone has a story to tell. Like most people, I went through that awkward phase in high school. I had horrific acne – so bad that I cut bangs to hide my forehead and all but refused to have my picture taken – and never truly appreciated anything I had to offer in my earlier years.

I grew up, went through many struggles, and I have now finally accepted and Love who I am. I don’t feel skinny, but I know I’m in the best shape of my life. I absolutely love having my picture taken now, even if I still take bad ones. My teeth could be whiter, but I still love my smile. I am confident in my skin for the first time ever. I’ve embraced my imperfections, and I’ve never been happier.

Having a strong support system is one of the most important things a person can have. Your relationships are the keys to incorporating your imperfections into your improved sense of self. Strong ones will build you up, be there for you in the good and bad times, and love you no matter what. I know I wouldn’t have finally accepted my imperfect self if it weren’t for the support of my family, friends, and most of all, my husband.

It makes me so sad to know that women will continue to be this way and some may never feel the true joy of being happy in their skin. But if nothing else, I hope this gives you a chance to reflect on yourself and the person you would like to be. Life is too short to not love who you are on the inside and out.

Share this if you want to share the love. We all need some support and every one of us is beautiful.

M3 Makeup 80’s Party!!!

Who doesn’t love the 80’s?! It was the decade of excess and no amount of makeup or color was ever enough.

The M3 makeup team certainly showed their 80’s spirit during our annual 80’s themed party on January 27! Each year the M3 team does something different and fun for team building and appreciation for a year’s worth of hard work, dedication, and love for the beauty industry. We couldn’t ask for a better team, which is why we celebrate them the way we do!

We had the pleasure of hosting our totally awesome party at Cypress Grove’s Cottage House which was absolutely perfect. We dig everything about this venue and it was actually our first time being at their cottage house. It did not disappoint. Champagne started flowing and the pictures started happening.

How fortunate are we that we have awesome friends that happen to be one of the best photography teams in Central Florida?! Chris and Sandra from Sandra Johnson Photography were there documenting this amazing event. Their energy and eye for pictures is exactly what we were looking for and we couldn’t be happier. We pretty much had a mini-photoshoot in the middle of our event to rock out our 80’s glamour shots and we had a number of excellent Napoleon Dynamite moments as you can see in our gallery.

Once we were done posing for pictures…we were able to sit down for a bit and enjoy food catered by Big City Catering. The bourbon chicken bites and twice baked potato bites were certainly a huge hit! And of course you can’t have a party without cupcakes. Thanks to Sprinkles in Winter Park for donating 2 dozen delicious branded cupcakes for the event. The Oreo and red velvet cupcakes mysteriously vanished within minutes.

It’s tradition for Michele, owner of M3, to give a heartfelt speech each year. After getting a little choked up here and there, she made it through just fine. As a special reward we had a few fun gifts to give out this year. M3 makeup artist, Ali Lee received several new makeup products, the newest MAKE UP FOR EVER makeup belt, and an hour massage at Nightlight Chiropractic. Our lead Stylist, Christine, received a Nine West clutch with a $150 check and 30 minute medical massage and chiropractic visit to Nightlight Chiropractic. In return, the team surprised Michele with a Michael

M3 Artist, Tabitha, for having the best costume (totally over the top in her Jem gear) won four free personal training sessions with and a 30 minute medical massage and chiropractor visit with Nightlight. Special thanks to our other sponsored awards from Absolute Body Wax and Spa and Arctic Cool. One of our favorite awkward moments of the night was when Scott presented Rali (she’s preggers) with a free Brazilian wax from Absolute. All of our team members put so many miles on their cars for M3 in 2013 they all got Free Oil change coupons from the fantastic City Garage Auto Repair near south downtown Orlando.

This event was a huge hit. Making memories, letting loose, building relationships and drinking and eating to our hearts’ content. We love every one for being there and look forward to another successful year!! Go team M3!
